Veterans Families. After the death of a Veteran you
should insure that you have copies of the last will,
birth certificate, death certificate and Marriage
certificate.
If you wish to have a Veteran buried at Sea, you
are advised to contact any Base/Station and speak
to a Padre/Priest.

THE MEMORY PROJECT
Created in 2001, The Memory Project
is the Dominion Institute’s flagship
educational programme, designed to
connect veterans and students
online and in classrooms across the
country.
The Memory Project Speakers’
Bureau includes 1,500 veteran
volunteers from across Canada
visiting classrooms and community
groups to share their stories with
youth.
The veterans in The Memory Project
represent a wide range of conflicts,
including World War I, World War II,
Korean War, Peacekeeping
Operations and Canadian Forces
experiences.
Honours and Awards
The Honours and Awards section of the Directorate of History and Heritage (DHH 4)
is the military secretariat for individual and collective honours and awards, and provides for
the development of
Canadian Forces honours policy.

Military honours are part of a national system for all Canadians. The system encompasses the
creation and
administration of Canadian Honours, including national and military honours and awards.

Some of DHH4's responsibilities include:

administer and maintain the CF honour system and policies;
liaise and coordinate with Government House for promulgation of new honours and awards;
the secretariat to the Honour Policy Committee and the Canadian Forces Decorations and
Commendations Advisory
Committee;
process, administer and distribute all medals awarded to Canadian Forces personnel serving
or retired;
look after the distribution, replacement and procurement of medals awarded to Canadian
Forces personnel, and;
answering inquiries from within DND, other federal departments, the general public and
foreign governments.
